Sun City Goodies

On December 13th, 2013, Mark Ochs and I hit up Sun City for some birding around Lakeside Pavilion for a few hours before I had to go to work.  Mark went on to find better things later in the day at Tempe Town Lake, but we still had a few good highlights from the Pavilion.

The first was a Golden-crowned Sparrow.  This bird was found by my friend Dominic Sherony and has been present here for the last 2 winters prior to this, making this the 3rd winter for the presence of this bird.

We also got to see this female Wood Duck.  I haven't seen many female Wood Ducks, so this bird was nice to see up so close!

We also found this nice Lewis's Woodpecker in a stand of neighboring palm trees.

Plenty of American Wigeons were also around!
