I recently tried drawing this Great Gray Owl using my photo as a reference for the drawing. My work was done with colored pencil. I'm not a patient person when it comes drawing, and I worked on this little by little. Even though I'm not too patient, drawing is fun.
Great Gray Owl is tied with Northern Goshawk for my favorite bird. I saw this one that I drew in Sax-Sim Bog, Minnesota in June of 2020. It was awesome to find it while birding in the early morning in light rain on one of the roads in the Bog. I had it to myself for a long time before several birders, all from different states, enjoyed it too. All of the Great Grays I have seen so far have been in Minnesota in Sax-Sim Bog and in the forests around Lake Superior.
