It's very cool of you to volunteer for these trips, and your very knowledgeable and good with these birds too!

It must be great to have seen 5 albatrosses on one trip. I really do plan on taking more pelagic trips in the future, because I really enjoyed this one!Tommy DeBardelebenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14927348437153499516noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8411028619066528288.post-72818152673859953912015-05-24T09:40:35.219-07:002015-05-24T09:40:35.219-07:00Epic trek Tommy! Pelagics are their own kind of special and as you can see....Albatross can turn a fun trip into an epic one! I've enjoyed all of my pelagics so far. Three were rough. One in Rocky Point to observe nesting Brown Boobies and the other in Maine for the Roseate and Arctic Terns, Black Guillemots and Puffins. One on Lake Titicaca for Flamingos. I will say this. NEVER stay within the cabin. The fumes on a small craft will turn you green quickly. Sometimes you are on a smaller vessel and that's where the issues can happen. Hats and fresh air keep the stomache from um.....you know:) I grew up on water so I am immune to the seasickness. However, the fuel fumes not so much. Your pics and excitement shine through on this post. Really glad you had a lot of fun! And congrats!Rohrerbothttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02136631378931478644noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8411028619066528288.post-84155641106733346412015-05-24T09:38:16.285-07:002015-05-24T09:38:16.285-07:00This comment has been removed by the author.Rohrerbothttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02136631378931478644noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8411028619066528288.post-46468920361641819702015-05-22T19:19:03.198-07:002015-05-22T19:19:03.198-07:00Your first pelagic trip is always magical!

I loved pelagic birding so much that in 1994 I began leading my own Oregon pelagic trips--over 150 trips (nearly every one with albatrosses, of 5 species!) until I moved to San Diego in fall 2013. Now I volunteer to guide on these San Diego trips, getting comp'd a free trip sometimes and paying my way on other trips.

Loved your videos, too. There I am taking my turn at popcorn chumming in video 3.

Don't miss a chance to take a pelagic trip!

Greg Gillson
San Marcos, California

My Oregon pelagic trip photos are here:
http://www.pbase.com/gregbirder/pelagic_trip_photos

Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15047133202447295521noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8411028619066528288.post-28016035110048363362015-05-21T10:33:55.405-07:002015-05-21T10:33:55.405-07:00Thanks Joshua!
